About the project
Elten Logistic Systems is proud to present its custom-made Automatic Liquid Ice Container System, specially designed for Colruyt in Belgium. This advanced system optimizes the transport of Colruyt’s ice containers, ensuring efficiency and reliability in cold chain logistics.
Key Features
• Automated Conveying System: Our innovative conveying solution moves containers seamlessly through the different stages of filling and storage. • Eltrack Conveying Technology: Using the Eltrack system, containers are efficiently conveyed to a refrigerated environment where they are prepared for product filling. • Automatic Filling Station: At the heart of our system, the automatic filling station quickly and accurately injects liquid ice into the containers, which is crucial for maintaining the optimal product temperature.
Process overview
• Container Handling: Using a forklift, empty containers are placed in one of the six designated infeed lanes, each equipped with green lighting to indicate go/no-go status. • Conveying to Cold Zone: The containers are moved to a 2°C area, where they are aligned with the filling station. • Filling and Sealing: The automatic filling station injects the predetermined amount of liquid ice. Once filled, the containers weigh approximately 580 kg. • Orientation and Pickup: A turntable adjusts the orientation of the container for pickup by the T-car, which then transports the containers to the outfeed lanes. • Quality Control: Containers undergo a thorough check. Those with incorrect fills are diverted to a reject lane for further inspection by operators.
Buffer for filled containers
Filled containers are stored in the buffer zone before they are loaded onto forklifts for distribution. This process is marked as complete as soon as a green light indicates readiness.

The implementation of our products and machines for the Automatic Liquid Ice Containers has significantly improved the efficiency of Colruyt’s supply chain operations. Our solution not only minimizes manual labor, but also increases the speed and accuracy of conveying frozen products.
